Comments from the public on agenda items will be heard only when the respective item is being considered or during multiple agenda items comment(if any). Comments from the public on other matters not appearing on the agenda that are within the Board's jurisdiction will be heard during the General Public Comment period. Please note that under the Brown Act, the Board is prevented from acting on a matter that you bring to its attention during the General Public Comment period; however, the issue raised by a member of the public may become the subject of a future Board meeting.

V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Committee Mission Statement
Emergency/Disaster Preparedness/Community Safety - The Committee shall organize the RNC into a cohesive unit so that in times of disaster we are able to cooperate and assist law enforcement and relief agencies. The Committee shall develop a plan to coordinate resources at the City and county level and to establish communication between stakeholders and public safety officers in event of a local emergency. The Committee shall provide emergency services training for the RNC. The Committee shall form liaisons with appropriate private and public agencies to enhance community safety.

B. Discuss updating DES/CS Committee Web page (https://resedacouncil.org/prepare/)
C. Review the Bylaws description of the DES/CS committee and see if it is accurate or need to be modified.
D. Strategize on Reseda LAPD and LAFD engagement and relations.
E. Create a list of Goals for 2026 & 2027
Example: Create and implement a Neighborhood Watch programs (NWP) in Reseda.

F. Schedule a monthly or quarterly DES/CS committee meeting. Schedule a call between us on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to organize and review to do list.
G. LAFD offers a free safety and emergency CERT Trainings and CPR/First Aid
(6 weeks course/once a week). Recommend that we both take this class and if it is good, that we recommend it to the RNC board members and Reseda Community members.

H. Discuss strategies for growing the DES/CE Commitee members from the Reseda Community.
Discuss having a monthly or bi-monthly DES/CS column in the monthly newsletter to discuss Safety in Reseda. This would also act as an opportunity to invite community members to join DES/CE committee.
