VI. OLD BUSINESS
VII. NEW BUSINESS
A. National Night Out
COVENANT HOUSE ANNUAL “DIY SLEEP OUT” EVENT Spend one night out without shelter so homeless youth know our communities are there to help. Who: The Reseda Neighborhood Council (RNC), along with Covenant House and other neighborhood councils are saying our neighbors and communities matter and we are here for them. What: We are gathering together to step out of our comfort zones, experience a fraction of what is endured without having a home, and actively raise the vital funds and awareness needed to address this crisis. Hosted at Reseda Park by the RNC for compassionate community members, youth advocates and local residents. This is a show of solidarity, at a much needed moment, that will offer a chance for everyone involved to discuss what is needed and show how serious we are taking this crisis. Partnering with Covenant House we will promote stakeholder and fellow neighborhood council, registration, awareness, and voluntary donations directly to the verified Covenant House non-profit portal. When: Thursday November 19 starting at 7:00PM until 7:00AM the next morning. Where: Reseda Park Recreation Center picnic tables and Dreamfield. 18411 Victory Blvd. Reseda, CA 91335 How to Join: The official registration and information link for the Covenant House Sleep Out is: https:www.sleepout.org/socal Participants are asked to bring a sleeping bag and a cardboard box. All proceeds and donations directly benefit The Covenant House and are completely voluntary. Proposed Motion I move that the Reseda Neighborhood Council (RNC), officially co-sponsor the Covenant House of California “DIY Sleep Out” community event. The RNC will support the initiative by utilizing its official communication channels (including social media, newsletters and public meetings) to promote stakeholder and fellow neighborhood councils, registration, awareness, and voluntary donations directly to the verified Covenant House non-profit portal. A pending itemized budget will state that any RNC funding required will not exceed $2500. The event is to be held at Reseda Park, a legally compliant, secure, private, permitted location within Reseda’s boundaries overnight on Thursday November 19th from 7:00pm to 7:00am November 20th, 2026.
