Documents are collaborative, section-based files — bylaws, standing rules, policies, and more. Each section is reviewed and approved independently, then the whole document advances through workflow stages.
Each section follows a simple review process:
Repeat for each section, then click Advance to Next Stage when all are approved.
Finalize Selection locks in which text version you want for a section (a suggestion or the original). Think of it as "I've made my choice." The section shows a Locked badge and the badge reads Finalized — Ready to Approve.
Approve Section means "I confirm this section is good to go." It marks the section as approved for the current workflow stage. You must finalize first so the system knows which text you're approving.
Unlock Section (admin only) reverses a finalization, letting you pick a different suggestion.
Sections with zero suggestions have nothing to review — the original text is the only option. The Approve All Unchanged button approves all of these at once, saving you from clicking through sections individually.
Sections that do have suggestions are skipped — those require manual review.
When every section shows a green Approved badge, the Advance to Next Stage button activates. Clicking it:
Draft — No workflow state yet
Awaiting Review — Needs someone to review and finalize a selection
Finalized — Ready to Approve — Selection locked, waiting for approval click
Approved — Section approved for this stage
Needs Revision — Section was rejected; revise and re-submit
Amended — Approved with text changes from the original
Team members propose changes to any section. Suggestions appear as cards with radio buttons. Use Show Changes to see exactly what's different from the original.
You can reject a suggestion to remove it from the active list — rejected suggestions can be restored later via Show Rejected.
Export Full — Complete document as JSON.
Bylaws Changelog — Word document with only amended sections, formatted per EmpowerLA requirements (strikethrough for removed language, underline for proposed language).
Export DOCX — Full document as Word file with current text.
The sidebar shows all sections. Click any to jump to it. Sections are color-coded by status: green for approved, yellow for pending review, gray for unreviewed.
